My Rapport & Respect for the Teenage Spirit
I have always had a true respect for adventure and freedom to soar. This applied to the core of the way in which I lived my life, made my decisions and choices from a young age on. Now when I was a young teenager that is all I wanted to do, be so free in every moment with no regard. I recognized how many people hung up who they are and what they love for the status quo; and I saw they lost their Spirit. I guess I have a little of that Peter Pan Spirit. Well when I was a teenager I refused to let anything stop this freedom, and but I was not guided by Love or Wisdom, that caused me to jump off a few cliffs soaring, but neglecting to see the storms I was flying into and causing for others. So along the way I ran into unforeseen obstructions during my flights that caused me and my family some pain. But through this, I learned how to navigate in and around storms. Now I have never ever lost my love and appreciation for the teenage Spirit. I carry it with me to this day, (Now with more wisdom, thankfully.) That is a wonderful time in our lives. And as we all know, it is a most trying time to live life. I love teaching and working with teenagers and young adults. This young vibrant age has so much to express and discover and they have a sense of freedom because they are exploring & soaring away from child to adult. When I would teach Art in High School, I rarely, if any, had a bad report with any of my students. There were students that challenged me, didn’t care for me etc. But in the end, we had a deep respect for each other. I have a gift for connecting with that age because of our mutual love for their teenage Spirit. So when they would confide in me we would come up with creative solutions in either their art or their lives. Because of this, this program is designed with their Spirit in my heart guiding the way. Every teenager and young adult that is in my personal life is having a profound effect on this program in some for or other. I ask them questions, guide through meditations, get assistance with the social aspects of their age online. I ask them what it is that they are experiencing, lacking and needing in their lives and all of this is put into this recipe along with my passion, experience and tools to guide them. The beginings of this work started with me just working with kids that know me real well like extended family. It then grew into working with my kids, then school kids and random people I would meet in my travels. I have gone to the caves in the Himalayas to the oceans of Jamaica and now I am here at the top of Lookout Mountain in Colorado reaching out to as many kids that I can possibly reach. And I seek to have this be a communication between themselves, me, with each other and all in their lives. There is no greater joy than to see what someone discovers in themselves while you are watching and their creative spark shines for as it blazes a trail for them to travel on.
